The YWCA hosts a variety of educational and fundraising events throughout the year. For more information on any event, please call (434) 847 7751. Staff from the YWCA is available to talk to your group about domestic violence, racial justice, housing, or Ygyrl Leaders.
Purse and Passion is a luncheon held annually as a fundraiser for the YWCA.
Academy of Women is held biennially to honor outstanding Women of Achievement in Lynchburg area. It also serves as a fundraiser for the YWCA.
Racial Justice Book Club is held throughout the year to encourage education and discussion to foster racial and cultural toleration. It is free and open to the public.
Side by Side for Racial Justice and Harmony is held every Spring at the YWCA. Its a community event to embrace diversity and help eliminate racism. A short walk around downtown is followed by a free luncheon and program. This event is held in conjunction with the National YWCA "Day of Commitment" to eliminate racism. It is free and open to the public.
Week Without Violence is held during October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness month. Every year, several community events are scheduled to help educate people and eliminate domestic violence.
Educating Women Lunch Series is a monthly event luncheon series offered on Wednesdays. A guest speaker talks about different topics around a Domestic Violence theme during October, and Racial Justice theme during a Spring/Summer month. The event is free and open to the public.
Prom Dress Super Sale is held once a year at Church Street Bridal before prom season to raise funds for our Ygyrl Leaders Program.
