The YWCA of Northwest Georgia's vision is a community free of domestic violence and sexual assault.  Our philosophy is to stand up and speak on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves.

In a typical year, in the State of Georgia...

  • 45 state certified shelters answer over 72,000 crisis line calls, provide safe housing for around 8,000 victims and their children and provide over 800,000 services to victims and their children.
  • 25 state funded rape crisis centers provide over 60,000 services to victims of rape and sexual assault, serve over 3,700 victims of rape and sexual assault and answer close to 8,000 crisis calls.
  • 835 adults and children have been killed in domestic violence incidents since 2003.

Why support the YWCA of Northwest Georgia...

  • For over 98 years we have been serving the citizens of Cobb County.
  • We built the first domestic violence shelter in the State of Georgia and provide the only safe haven from domestic violence for women and children in Cobb County.
  • We are the only social service provider to partner with law enforcement, the DA's office and WellStar Health System to provide services to victims of sexual assault over the age of 13 in Cobb, Cherokee and Paulding counties.
