The IRC is focused on providing global emergency relief, rehabilitation, the protection of human rights, and resettlement services for those uprooted or affected by conflict, disaster or oppression.
At work in 42 countries, the IRC delivers lifesaving aid in emergencies, rebuilds shattered communities, cares for war-traumatized children, restores lost livelihoods, establishes schools, trains teachers, strengthens the capacity of local organizations and supports civil society and good-governance initiatives.
In 2001, IRC programs restored hope and opportunity for more than 35 million conflict-affected individuals around the world, and millions more were helped by the 1200 local organizations and community groups that the IRC supports. We support the following programs:
