Becoming Equitable Institutions (BEI)

This series of training modules in Becoming Equitable Institutions provides a comprehensive overview of how to begin and implement an equity initiative within your organization. Organizations engaged in such a process are encouraged to send at least four representatives who can return and spearhead efforts internally. Each module is comprised of three separate trainings totaling 9 hours of training. All three modules combined total 27 hours of training. Participants can attend all three modules or attend the module that best meets their organizational needs.


Racial Equity Workshops

Individuals who attend YWCA Racial Equity Workshops can develop the skills and vocabulary necessary to engage in honest reflection on their own identities, and identify the ways systemic racism affects the lives of all who live and work in our communities. Trained facilitators lead participants to:
  • explore societal influences that perpetuate a culture of white superiority
  • recognize where and how inequity exists in their workplace/community/home
  • identify roles which will move them and the systems in which they participate to become equitable, anti-racist individuals and organizations
