E202: Teaching News Literacy--4/27/13

Teachers will learn to incorporate the core concepts of media literacy into their lesson planning, through a close reading of newspapers, broadcast news and web-based resources. By exploring the techniques used in the production and distribution of content, teachers will learn to lead discussions on such topics as fact vs. opinion, representation and stereotypes in the media and ethics in journalism.

This is a discussion-based experience and not a hands-on media production course.

5 hours of Act 48 Credit for PA educators. WHYY will also provide documentation for DE and NJ educators.
