On the Fourth of July, 2012, a diving accident changed Thomas Cloyd’s life forever.
Thomas sustained a C5/C6 injury spinal cord injury. Immediately after the accident, Thomas had little hope of moving his arms or legs, and had no feeling in them. Then he learned about the Activity-Based Locomotor Exercise (ABLE) program at the Courage Center in Minneapolis, MN -- part of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation's NeuroRecovery Network®.
The ABLE program uses a variety of specialized exercises to improve overall health, mobility, strength, and quality of life. With that training, Thomas has made incredible gains in his core balance and upper body strength, and is beginning to see some movement in his legs.
"It's literally life changing," Thomas says. "The ABLE program lets you see your body in a way you haven't before—moving. It prepares you for a life of mobility. Your gifts to the Reeve Foundation are directly leading to life changes as people get stronger and more independent. It makes life better, and I have hope that I will walk again."
Your gift right now will support the innovative Reeve Foundation research that can lead to new treatments and cures -- and better health and mobility for people living with paralysis.
Please partner with us to give hope to more people like Thomas!
