5K for Healthy Kidneys

Conquering Alport Syndrome

Thank you for participating in the 5K for Healthy Kidneys on April 29 the at the Kiwanis Community Park in Tempe, Arizona. With your help and dedication we were able to raise close to $50,000 for outreach and education to support the patients and families affected by Alport Syndrome.

This annual family-friendly run/walk is held every spring to celebrate life and promote awareness of Alport syndrome as well as the risks of chronic kidney disease, and the benefits of organ donation.

Alport syndrome is a rare hereditary kidney disease that causes a decline in kidney function, hearing loss and vision problems. There is currently no treatment proven to prevent the development of kidney failure in people with Alport syndrome; however, early diagnosis is essential as there are medications to delay the progression of the disease. There is no cure for Alport syndrome.

Funds raised goes toward outreach, awareness and patient support.
