2008 Guidelines and Application

What are the Ambassador Team Awards?

The Ambassador Team Awards give $50,000 in grants to teams that demonstrate leadership in their communities by inspiring girls to get involved in sports and physical activity.

Who is eligible?

School, amateur, community and/or nonprofit affiliated teams whose members are all of the following:

 Female

 Enrolled in 9th -12th grade

 Residents of the United States, its territories or

       protectorates

What are the awards?

Twenty (20) teams will each earn a $2,500 team grant.

 Proof of nonprofit status and/or 501(c)(3) status is required

       (if applicable)

What do you have to do?

Step 1: Sign up as Ambassadors!

 Select a captain for your team. She must sign up as an

       Ambassador for the team.

Step 2: Plan, organize and do! (get girls moving)

 Create your own community service project that will get girls

       in your community to be physically active.  

Step 3: Enter YOUR project for a chance to earn $2,500 for your team!

 Complete the Online Entry Form OR download a print-version

       of the entry form to fill out and mail in.

 You'll be asked to complete an essay answering three

       required questions with a 750 word maximum.

 Essays must be written by a team member. Projects will be

       judged solely on the questions answered in the essay.

What kinds of projects can my team enter?

There are all sorts of great things your team can do to get girls moving and playing: host a team sports clinic, lead an after-school fitness/dance group or help coach a girls' little league team...there are so many possibilities! Get to know some of the 2007 winning Ambassador teams.

Things to keep in mind

 The contest deadline is July 18, 2008. Your online application

       must be submitted by midnight (EST) on July 18, 2008.

       NO late entries will be accepted. If you choose to mail your

       entry, it must be IN our office by July 18, 2008.

 We cannot accept entries that are e-mailed or faxed.

 Submit a COMPLETE application. If something is missing, your

       application will be DISQUALIFIED.

 Your project must be completed by July 18, 2008. Projects

       must be original, current work and not previously submitted

       to this grant program.

 VHS/DVD/CD-ROMs are not mandatory; they will not be

       judged. VHS/DVD/CD-ROMs may be used for promotional

       purposes.

 The GoGirlGo! Ambassador Team Awards are championed by

       Gatorade and administered by the

       Women's Sports Foundation.

Your project will be judged on:

       (1) Impact (50%)

       (2) Quality and Creativity (50%)

You are required to answer the following three questions:

      (1) Why did your team choose to do this project?

       (2) How did your team execute the project (Explain in

             detail, please)

      (3) What did your team and the girls in your community

            take away from participating in your project?

            (Be specific, please)
