On Sunday, April 13, Mel & Bobbi Dick received the Simon Wiesenthal Legacy Award at the InterContinental Miami, over 400 people attended.
Mel Dick, president of the Wine Division, senior vice-president and a partner of Southern Wine & Spirits of America, and his wife Bobbi, were honored with the Simon Wiesenthal Legacy Award. Southern Wine & Spirits is the largest wine and spirits distributor in the United States. At the InterContinental Miami, more than 400 guests enjoyed cocktails and dinner. Rabbi Marvin Hier, dean and founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, delivered an unforgettable keynote address and Rabbi Meyer May, executive director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, served as the master of ceremonies. Harvey and Wayne Chaplin, dinner chairmen, presented Mel and Bobbi Dick with their well-deserved award. The event was co-chaired by George Feldenkreis, Russell Galbut, Ezra Katz and Don Soffer.
The multi-talented, Academy Award-winning Louis Gossett Jr., Mel Dick’s boyhood and lifelong friend, spoke about the need to take care of the children in this world and about his life growing up with Mel. Mel spoke about how he will to never forget nor let anyone else forget about the Holocaust and the need to fight bigotry, hatred and anti-Semitism in today’s world.
