This year, the need for stronger anti-bullying and harassment programs was fully recognized in Oregon schools. Recent outcomes range from legislation to protect marginalized students from bullying behaviors, to ongoing implementation of a wide spectrum of violence prevention programs.

Delegates will gather July 1 through July 6 in San Diego, CA for the NEA's 147th Annual Meeting and 88th Representative Assembly (RA). NEA-RA is the 3.2 million member union's highest decision-making body. With over 9,000 delegates, it is also the world's largest democratic, deliberative body.

Oregon's Quality Education Model (QEM) specifies a $7.9 billion funding level for K-12 schools in the 2007-09 budget to ensure 90 percent of students will meet state standards. $6.2 billion was approved for 2007-09. The QEM specifies $8.4 billion for 2009-11.
