Northern Eagle Owl

Northern Eagle Owl (Bubo bubo), a large Strigiformes raptor with a body length about 70 cm, is the largest night owl living in North China. The eagle owl lives in the mountainous area of Beijing and primarily takes hares, foxes, urchins and so on as food. It lays 1-2 egg (s) every time with a reproduction period 4-8 months. They usually build their nests in unfrequented caves. The eagle owl is a nocturnal bird and it is quite energetic in early morning, dusk or evening with dim light. The eagle owl is a resident bird in Beijing area and Beijing Raptor Rescue Center receives sick or wounded eagle owls around the year.
