Golden Eagle

Golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) is a huge bird of prey belonging to the family Accipitridae. The golden eagles generally grow about 85cm, are one of the few Class I nationally protected birds in Beijing area. Golden eagles live in the mountainous area of Beijing and take large birds and small beasts as food. They mostly lay 1-2 egg(s) every nest and their reproduction period lasts for 6-8 months. They usually build their nests in the untraversed cliff. Owing to its strong physical body and ferocious temper, the golden eagle is always considered as symbol of braveness and strength. The golden eagles living in the wildness are quire rare, and most of golden eagles cured in Beijing Raptor Rescue Center are confiscated by the law authorities.
