Shake-A-Leg Miami is dedicated to providing an affordable, accessible watersports and educational facility for our community. Students are automatically eligible for a 100% scholarship if they are in the ESE Program at a Miami-Dade County Public School and have current documentation (i.e. an Individual Education Plan, Section 504, or medical diagnosis), attend a Title I Miami-Dade County Public School, or receive a free or reduced lunch at a Miami-Dade County Public School. If your student does not fit into any of these criteria, we encourage you to fill out this application and apply for a scholarship. Scholarships apply to all of our programs and are given on a per program basis, lasting for the duration of that program (i.e. a school year program, or a summer program).
Scholarship applications are reviewed by the Shake-A-Leg staff, and are approved based on financial need, motivation for participation, and if necessary, a personal interview. Scholarships range from 25% - 100% off of the advertised tuition and may be given as a percentage discount or a fixed dollar amount
To qualify for a scholarship, proof of income is required.
You must submit proof of income with your application. Shake-A-Leg Miami reserves the right to verify all documentation and request further information prior to a final decision. Listed below are the documents accepted by Shake-A-Leg Miami as proof of income.
- Most recent check stubs covering one month of employment
- Proof of unemployment, welfare, or disability
- Other proof of government assistance that is based on income level (Food Stamps, Section 8 Housing, Free School Lunch)
Please also submit with your application a letter stating
the following:
- Why you want your child involved in a SALM program
- Your need for financial assistance
If you are unemployed and not receiving any government aid, a letter from an individual knowledgeable of your status is required.The individual will be contacted by Shake-A-Leg for verification. If the letter cannot be verified, the application will not be approved.
