Tournament Story

Our first Jimmy Fund Celebrity Golf Tournament was held in 1980 at Twin Hills Country Club and raised $2,500 to support the life-saving work of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  In 1983, the tournament officially became the Jimmy Fund Golf Tournament/Jeffrey Vinick Memorial in memory of a special young man who died of cancer.  That year, the tournament added a second golf course and raised $33,500.

Over the last twenty-eight years, we have experienced tremendous growth and success.  In 2007, we set a lofty goal of $500,000 and succeeded!  Our committee has grown from the original three members (Jim Sadowsky, Stuart Meyers and Myron Skolnik) to over fifty, and the number of participants fills 5 golf courses. We are one of the largest of over 160 Jimmy Fund Golf Tournaments annually.
Each year, through the dependability of our sponsors and the devotion of our volunteers, we have successfully increased the net proceeds raised for the Jimmy Fund.  Our 28-year total raised is now over $6 million for Dana-Farber.  It is with pride and gratitude that we celebrate our 29th annual event and invite you to share in our continued success.
