About Oral History Project

The mission of the Notre Dame Oral History Project is to record the stories of our alumni—stories of their time at Notre Dame and their experiences and accomplishments since graduating. We are archiving and distributing these narratives in order to preserve them for future generations and bring alumni closer together by sharing our stories. These stories are the history and legacy of Notre Dame.

The Notre Dame Oral History Project was launched in 2007. Katie Freddoso '02, who coordinated the project, traveled around the United States visiting with Notre Dame alumni from a range of class years and taping their recollections of Notre Dame.  Read Katie's account of her cross-country trip in the summer issue of Notre Dame Magazine.

More than 120 individual oral histories have been collected. Several of the stories have been transcribed and are now available in 2 - 4 minute edited versions through this site. Access the stories now.
