ND Atlanta Flood Victim Relief

Notre Dame Club of Atlanta Flood Victim Relief Efforts

As you may know, floods ravaged many Atlanta communities in September 2009.  Many homes, businesses and schools were found completely underwater.  Belongings and memories were destroyed.  The Notre Dame Club of Atlanta has been contacted by the class of 1955, as Deborah Cassidy, daughter of Tom Cassidy '55, lost her home and all of her belongings in the flood as it tore through Austell.

Below are several images of the damage to Deborah's home:

Can you assist the Notre Dame Club of Atlanta in helping one of our own? Unfortunately, just like many others in the area, the home had no flood insurance, and we'll be helping one of the ND family rebuild from scratch.

To compound the problem, Deborah is currently unemployed, the maximum that she will receive from FEMA's donations is $30k, and this will be far short of the amount that will be necessary in order for her to be back in her own home.

If you have skills that might be valuable in repairs, please let us know.  If you have household goods that you can donate, please let us know.  If you'd prefer to make a monetary donation, we're collecting these donations and will be providing them to the Ms. Cassidy. You can send checks to:

Please spread the word to other alums, family and friends and let's help an ND family member overcome this truly unfortunate situation!

If you have other ideas on how to help Ms. Cassidy, please let us know at ndatlanta@alumni.nd.edu!
