The Jayhawk Area Council serves 11 counties in Northeast Kansas including the state capital, Topeka. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Our Vision: The Boy Scouts of America will prepare every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and Law.

I regret to share the news of the resignation of Oregon Trail District Executive Terrie Obazee. Terrie has resigned for personal and health-related issues, and we wish her all the best in the future. Terrie's last day with the Jayhawk Area Council is Monday, August 25.

Jayhawk Area Council Named Gold Star Mentoring Program |

Governor Kathleen Sebelius signed an executive order Monday, August 18, allowing State of Kansas employees to positively impact children's lives through the Kansas Mentors program. Executive Order 08-10 will allow full-time employees in the Executive Branch of the State of Kansas to spend up to 90 minutes of regularly scheduled work time per two-week pay period mentoring with any program which is part of Kansas Mentors' Gold Star program. To find out if you are eligible to receive time to mentor please check with your supervisor. Volunteer opportunities are available with the Scoutreach program. Contact Armond Enclarde at 276.3346 or
