Governor's Budget Could Hurt CSU Stanislaus Students
The Governor's release of the 2008-09 budget could greatly affect future students of CSU Stanislaus and, subsequently, the state's workforce in key high-demand industries.
The Governor has proposed a 10 percent cut in funding to California State University, a reduction that could severely limit student access to our campus. This cut will result in:
- 10,000 qualified students being denied entrance into the 23 CSU's campuses
- Less classes available for current students
- Less graduates therefore less future qualified employees in key California industries.
The CSU will be working with the Governor to secure adequate funding for the CSU and California's future workforce. However, it is critical that the Governor and members of the State Assembly and Senate hear your concern regarding the proposed cuts to the CSU budget. Please write your state representatives today and ask them to restore CSU's budget for the good of our students and the state's future.

Proposition Could Lock in New State Spending with No Way to Pay For It!
With the state budget deficit climbing, Proposition 92, the Community College Initiative will go before voters tomorrow and could add more fuel to this already growing fire. The initiative proposes to lock in funding levels for community colleges without providing a way for the state to pay for it.
CSU Stanislaus supports community colleges, but Prop. 92 is not the answer.
Prop.
92 will only worsen California's budget deficit and threatens funding for other critical programs.
Prop. 92 would mandate millions of dollars with no accountability provisions to ensure the money ends up helping students.
