Mark M. Urata, MD, DDS, is board certified in both oral and maxillofacial surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery making him uniquely qualified to lead the Division of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery. He specializes in the most complex craniofacial anomalies, including craniosynostosis, syndromic reconstruction, and jaw deformities.
An accomplished author and speaker, he is an assistant professor of plastic surgery in the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC) and a research assistant professor in the Center for Craniofacial Molecular Biology of the USC School of Dentistry.
Dr. Urata trained for 18 years following his undergraduate education. He received his dental degree from the USC School of Dentistry and his medical degree from the USC Keck School of Medicine. He completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery before matriculating to general surgery and then completing a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at USC. He then moved across town where he completed a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Jeffrey Hammoudeh, MD, DDS
Director, Jaw Deformities Center
Dr. Jeffrey Hammoudeh holds faculty appointments at both the Keck School of Medicine of USC and the USC School of Dentistry. Dr. Hammoudeh earned a double doctorate in Medicine and Dentistry at Northwestern University, then completed surgical internships in oral and general surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Rush Presbyterian Hospital. He completed his general surgery prerequisites at Massachusetts General Hospital before completing his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the Harvard Program. Subsequently, he went to the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and completed formal training in plastic and reconstructive surgery, whereupon, he completed a fellowship in Pediatric Plastic and Craniofacial Surgery at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
His interests include craniofacial surgery, vascular anomalies, orthognathic surgery, reconstructive surgery, as well as adult plastic surgery. Dr. Hammoudeh has co-authored many book chapters covering maxillofacial trauma, reconstruction and general plastic surgery, as well as articles for peer-reviewed publications.

Sheryl Lewin, MD
Director, Microtia Reconstruction Center
Dr. Sheryl Lewin specializes in the surgical correction of cleft lip and palate, microtia (small ear) reconstruction and removal of hemangioma and congenital pigmented birthmarks. She holds a clinical instructor faculty position in the division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the USC Keck School of Medicine. Her research focuses on the clinical aspects of microtia and cleft reconstruction, particularly technical advancements and psychosocial effects of these congenital problems.
Dr. Lewin received her undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, and her medical degree from Stanford University. After conducting research in the Division of Plastic Surgery at UCLA, she completed her plastic surgery residency at USC. She then obtained specialized pediatric plastic surgery training through a craniofacial fellowship at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

William Magee, III, MD, DDS
Director, International Programs
William Magee, III, MD, DDS, brings a unique, global background to the Division of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, which he joined in 2008. Dr. Magee is the oldest son of the founders of Operation Smile and was exposed to the challenges of children with craniofacial anomalies at an early age. Since he was 13, he has assisted Operation Smile teams all over the world in various roles.
Dr. Magee earned his dental degree at the University of Maryland, then went on to obtain his medical degree at George Washington University. His introduction to Los Angeles began in 2001 when he entered the combined Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Program at the University of Southern California, where he has remained. After completing the six-year program, he focused his attention in Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic Surgery at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
Dr. Magee offers an energy and drive for pediatric work that extends beyond the boundaries of Los Angeles, which will help our department grow into the areas of service and education for children around the world.

Andre Panossian, MD
Director, Facial Paralysis Center
Dr. Andre Panossian belongs to a select group of plastic surgeons with expertise in facial reanimation, brachial plexus injuries, congenital hand and vascular anomalies, burns, limb reconstruction, and cleft lip and palate surgery. Dr. Panossian holds an appointment in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the USC Keck School of Medicine. He received his undergraduate education at UCLA and his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine.
Following his residency in plastic surgery at USC, Dr. Panossian trained at the prestigious Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where he subspecialized in pediatric plastic surgery. His research interests include exploring the clinical application of composite tissue allotransplantation and elucidating the mechanisms of cerebral adaptation following facial paralysis surgery.

Dennis-Duke R. Yamashita, D.D.S.
Director, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Dr.Yamashita is Chairman and Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center and the USC School of Dentistry. He is a Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the USC School of Dentistry and holds adjuncts appointments in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Department of Otolaryngology of the Keck School of Medicine at USC.
Dr. Yamashita has numerous publications on a wide array of topics including craniomaxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular surgery, implant surgery, and dentoalveolar surgery. He completed his undergraduate, dental school, and residency in oral surgery all at USC and the LAC/USC Medical Center.
