The Foundation Center at Barrett Library
Alexandria Library collaborates with The Foundation Center as a Regional Cooperating Collection: a large collection of Foundation Center print and online resources, including online training, are located at the Barrett. Foundation and Grant classes, arranged by Barrett staff, are offered to patrons. Although Barrett is the home location for this special collection, all Alexandria Library branches have electronic access to both "The Foundations Directory Online" and "The Foundation Grants to Individuals Online" databases on their Catalog computers. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Barrett's Reference Manager at 703-838-4555x233.

About ABLE

ABLE is a result of two years of conversations with local board leaders about what they need to be effective and formally facilitated through the 2007 ACT Nonprofit Excellence Forum.   ABLE is a community collaboration with ACT, the Alexandria Volunteer Bureau, and Leadership Alexandria.

In addition to energizing, educating and engaging community members, ABLE will provide access to training and fundamental knowledge about effective board leadership; support a vibrant network of members for sharing and learning; and foster a dynamic environment for recruitment of and volunteering for board service.

ABLE will host three forums each year featuring case studies, methods, and tools for adopting best practices of effective organizations. Each forum will also include a networking component.

To learn more about ABLE, please call 703-739-7778 or email info@ablealex.org.
