The Toledo Community Foundation founded TCVP in April 2006 as a way to provide individuals a unique way to engage in a new style of philanthropy and to take an active role in their charitable giving.
TCVP is a partner-driven organization in which the contributing partners, with assistance from The Toledo Community Foundation, select investees (nonprofit organizations) based on applications submitted as a result of a TCVP Request for Proposal. TCVP organizes Volunteer Teams to assist investees in identified capacity building areas. Examples of capacity building include: management consulting; accounting and budgeting; income-generating strategies; marketing and public relations; web site and database development; and replication or expansion.
The mission of TCVP is to maximize social impact by assisting nonprofit organizations in strengthening organizational capacity and sustainability through the creative use and leverage of our partners' skills and resources.
“As a young professional with minimal philanthropic/nonprofit background, Toledo CVP’s accomplishments have confirmed that my contribution is simply the perspective I bring to the table based on my experiences – and that alone makes an impact to make a difference.” - Sara C. Vaughan, Member, 2006-2008
