Youth Activist Kollege

Attention Amnesty International Students:
Get your YAKtivist groove on!

July 13-16, Marymount University: Arlington, VA

YAK Participants. © AIThe Youth Activist Kollege is an annual summer event for up-and-coming Amnesty leaders. High school and college students from around the country are selected each year to attend a four-day human rights camp where they receive the essential skills and training needed to lead their Amnesty groups to a year of kickin' activism.

This is a great opportunity to converge with youth activists from all walks of life to develop hands-on skills, including recruiting new activists, planning powerful events, advocating for human rights, and energizing and diversifying Amnesty's student movement.

The application process

Please complete all parts of the online application form, supply one letter of reference.

Your application consists of these three things:

  1. Personal data
  2. Completed short essay questions
At the Youth Activist Kollege we bring together interested and motivated student and youth leaders. YAK is a place where people from different backgrounds and with different skills and interests learn together as well as from each other. We expect you to answer all of the questions, but we don’t expect everyone to answer each question with the same amount of detail. Rest assured this is not a test!
  3. A letter of recommendation
Download a recommendation form to give to your recommender (or pass the link to them in an email). Choose a faculty advisor, group coordinator or another individual who knows you well and can highlight your leadership skills and characterize your commitment as a human rights activist.
