Legislative Action And Equal Opportunity Committee The Legislative Action and Equal Opportunity Committee (LAEO) met on Saturday, November 14, recommending support for HR 3699 and HR 1466. The LAEO Committee's recommendations were adopted by the Executive Board at it's meeting on November 15, 2009 at the Hyatt Mission Bay Hotel in San Diego. Support HR 3699: A Bill to prohibit any increase in the number of members of the United States Armed Forces serving in Afghanistan. Summary: No funds appropriated or otherwise made available under any provision of law may be obligated or expended to increase the number of members of the United States Armed Forces serving in Afghanistan so that the number of members serving in Afghanistan exceeds the number so serving on the date of the enactment of this Act. Support HR 1466: Major Drug Trafficking Prosecution Act of 2009. Summary: Requires the Attorney General’s prior written approval for a federal prosecution of an offense under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) or the Controlled Substances Import and Export Act (CSIEA), or for any conspiracy to commit such an offense, where the offense involves the illegal distribution or possession of a controlled substance in an amount less than the specified as a minimum for an offense under CSA or, in the case of any substance containing cocaine or cocaine base, in any amount less than 500 grams.
