Like the rest of the country, the Washington metropolitan region has been hit hard by our nation's economic crisis. In Montgomery County, thousands of low-income children, families and seniors living in Silver Spring, Takoma Park, Wheaton, Rockville, Gaithersburg and Germantown are feeling the pain.
In this very difficult time, The Community Foundation is leading the response. The Montgomery County Community Foundation -- the Montgomery county arm of The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region -- is shaping a targeted philanthropic response to support our County’s most vulnerable neighbors.
Children, families and seniors in Montgomery County are hurting. Many have lost jobs and have no health insurance. The alarming rise in the cost of food, transportation, and utilities has many residents struggling now more than ever. In the months ahead, some face eviction due to their inability to meet monthly rent. Still others face the prospect of not being able to pay their utility bills.
And our County’s nonprofit service providers are hurting. Food banks, shelters, and other service providers are flooded with demands for services, while the cost of doing business rises steadily. Moreover, the economic downturn makes fundraising uncertain at best.
YOU CAN HELP. Your donation to the Neighbors In Need Montgomery Fund will help nonprofit service providers on the ground deliver critical services to struggling families. Don’t let children go hungry or let families be left in the cold. Support your Neighbors in Need.
About the Neighbors in Need Montgomery Fund
The Neighbors in Need Montgomery Fund is a grantmaking fund supporting effective nonprofit organizations in the County that are part of a critical "safety net" of services. It works in close partnership with the County’s Department of Health and Human Services and with our regional Neighbors in Need Fund of The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region.
All grantee nonprofit organizations are pre-vetted for program and management excellence by the Montgomery County Community Foundation’s expert staff and a Steering Committee of knowledgeable and generous private donors.
