Family Funds

A Local Couple Helps Transform the Lives of At-Risk Girls
An active retired couple in Potomac set up a family fund to support the many causes they care about.  Hoping to expand their local giving, they worked with the MCCF staff to explore programs serving the county’s underprivileged children.

They quickly fell in love with a small organization that empowers at-risk girls in Silver Spring and Takoma Park.  In addition to providing academic support, they were especially impressed by how this program challenges girls to use their unique voices to become leaders for the community.

Since then, the couple has made an anonymous grant to the organization every year and proudly watched it grow.  Thanks to their generosity, this organization is helping more and more “at-risk” girls transform into mature young women.

A Family Feels the Joy of Giving Year-Round
A local family found themselves frantically trying to make charitable donations at the end of the year.  Instead of rushing to make many cash and stock gifts by December 31, their financial advisor suggested establishing a fund with MCCF.

Their fund was set up in 24 hours with one quick and easy tax-smart stock transfer.  Now, they leisurely make decisions about how to support the organizations and causes they care about any time of year ----rather than spending their holidays worrying about tax deductions.
