Thank you for joining us in the fight against cancer. The John R. Svenson Classic golf tournament began in 2008 in support of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. John’s strength and courage were remarkable as he bravely fought his yearlong battle with cancer. He was a very generous and compassionate man whose presence was experienced by many as both calming and a beacon of strength. He was passionate and active in giving back to others less fortunate and he will be immortalized by both the organizations and the many individuals whose lives he touched.
The John R. Svenson Classic is raising money to fund an endowment under his name. The endowment will fund a research fellowship at Dana-Farber in cancer genetics, which is a field that holds great promise for developing more targeted and effective treatments in the future. Through generous sponsorships and donations we’ve raised more than $470,000 towards our goal of $1.3 million dollars. We are hopeful that with your continued support, we can move quickly towards fully funding the endowment and towards our larger aim of finding a cure for this terrible disease.
