The American Lung Associations of Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina merged on July 1, 2007 to become the American Lung Association of the Atlantic Coast, Inc. (ALAAC).  While our organizations have merged, we will continue to do business under the names American Lung Association of Maryland, American Lung Association of Virginia and American Lung Association of North Carolina.  This move follows a trend to have the state Lung Associations create regional entities to maximize resources and make the organization more effective and efficient.  There will be no interruption in the programs we offer or the services we provide and in fact, some new programs will be launched or expanded as a result of the merger.

Melina Davis-Martin took the helm as President and CEO of the ALAAC in September following five years as President of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Central Virginia Chapter located in Richmond.

A regional board of directors was named that includes representatives from the three states as listed below.  Local leadership boards will provide guidance to each respective state.

The American Lung Association of the Atlantic Coast, Inc. will maintain local offices operating throughout Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina.
