WWP Answers the Call at Walter Reed
By now you have seen the media coverage on the critical issues facing our wounded warriors. The quality of living conditions and patient care at Walter Reed has been questioned since the Washington Post ran a detailed three-part series on the issue. Then the challenges facing wounded warriors with traumatic brain injuries were highlighted in a Bob Woodruff special that aired on ABC. We know that you are deeply concerned about the wounded and their families. We share your concern.
WWP has answered every call for support from the wounded - from the battlefield to their bedside.
When called to provide comfort to the wounded in the field, WWP sent Transitional Care Packs to medical units and Iraq and Afghanistan. When called for support upon their return home - WWP provided Backpacks and Peer Mentoring at the bedside. When called to provide rehabilitation assistance, WWP developed a comprehensive adaptive and outdoor sports and recreation program. When called to relieve financial burdens, WWP spearheaded the creation of a new insurance benefit that to date has paid over $160 million to the wounded and their families. Now our wounded warriors are facing new challenges - not only at Walter Reed, but at other military hospitals and facilities around the country.
WWP has heard the most recent call for help from our wounded warriors and their families. We will answer!
Our amazing staff of dedicated professionals, many of whom are themselves wounded warriors, are working diligently with command personnel at Walter Reed, staff at the Department of Veterans Affairs, and key Congressional leaders. We remain resolute and committed to work with government officials to streamline the recovery process and improve access to care and benefits for the wounded.
In the coming weeks we will be rolling out a bold new initiative to take on these issues. Visit our website to stay informed about these initiatives as they develop, or Click Here to sign up for the WWP Advocacy Network.
