AB 2327 (Caballero) Emergency services: humanitarian and relief services
Impact on People with Disabilities:
When survivors of a disaster evacuate, they often lose access to personal documents and identification. Trying to locate or replace documents during an emergency can become difficult, particularly for the disability community. This bill will prevent survivors of a disaster from being denied emergency services due to lack of identification, unless required by state or federal law, without fear of harassment or unequal treatment.
AB 2796 (Nava) Civil Obligations
Impact on People with Disabilities:
This bill will provide limited liability protections for non-profit, religious, and private agencies while responding to disasters. AB 2796 will promote organizations to volunteer resources and provide assistance in the event of disasters and to participate in pre-planning and coordination efforts.
