La Crosse Asthma Coalition Bestowed With Lung Association Award of Excellence
LA CROSSE, WI (November 23, 2005) – The American Lung Association of Wisconsin has recently named the La Crosse Partners as the 2005 recipient of its Distinguished Service Award. The award is the highest honor the Lung Association bestows upon a volunteer, and this is the first time it has been given to a group of individuals.
The La Crosse Partners was established in 2000 as a coalition of health professionals and others who care about asthma. The partnership has been instrumental in identifying an urgent need for lung health and asthma education in the La Crosse area.
These committed volunteers have raised awareness about the seriousness of asthma, have helped deliver the American Lung Association of Wisconsin’s life-saving programs and have made these services a reality through their fundraising activities.
The La Crosse Partners was spearheaded by Onalaska resident and pediatric allergist, Todd Mahr, M.D., of Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. Dr. Mahr also serves on the American Lung Association of Wisconsin Board of Directors.
