Teens Against Tobacco Use (T.A.T.U.) is a tobacco education program designed to help teens develop strong leadership skills while influencing younger children to live tobacco-free lifestyles. The statewide program is sponsored by the American Lung Association of Wisconsin and was developed as part of the tri-agency initiative of the Smoke Free Class of 2000.
Teens Against Tobacco Use:
- Is designed specifically for teens as a peer-mentoring program.
- Is based on research about smoking prevention and the consequences of smoking.
- Fulfills service learning/community service requirements.
- Includes media literacy components.
- Uses a pyramid-teaching model with four phases--facilitator training, teen training, youth presentations and community action.
