Without firing a shot or harming a soul, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. changed the course of history and called on a nation to fulfill its promise to guarantee the "unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" for all. His nonviolent message was heard around the world and changed this nation forever. It is fitting that his image rest in the nation's capital and carry the same weight and significance as others who are honored with memorials.

Dr. King once reminded the nation of "the fierce urgency of now" while warning against "the tranquilizing drug of gradualism." The right time to honor his memory is now from a historical perspective. The design has been selected; the site is secured; the fundraising teams are already at work; and a portion of the $100 million campaign goal has been raised. Now is the time to wake up to a golden opportunity and build a memorial to Dr. King.

Contributions are tax-deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law. No government funds have been allocated for this project.
