About the film
More Than a Month is a feature documentary that follows Shukree Hassan Tilghman, an African-American filmmaker, on a cross-country campaign to end black History Month. Through this challenging, complex, and often comedic journey, the film explores what the treatment of history tells us about race and equality in “post-racial” America.

After the film
Chris Satullo, Vice President of News and Civic Dialogue at WHYY, moderates a discussion on whether heritage months do more harm or good for our education systems with the film’s director Shukree Hassan Tilghman, former School Reform Committee head Sandra Dungee-Glenn who is featured in the film and Ricardo Jefferson, Adjunct Professor of African-American History at CCP.
