- I am living in United States and would like to help families in a specific country. What can I do?
As a volunteer: Take FamilyLife on a mission trip. Many churches in the United States send teams of volunteers to other locations on mission trips. They provide humanitarian assistance, present vacation bible schools for children or help build or repair homes, churches and schools. You could take FamilyLife along with you by carrying a suitcase filled with HomeBuilders Couples Series study guides. Ask the local pastor to invite couples to join you for HomeBuilder's sessions during the evenings. Train local couples to be facilitators and encourage them to continue meeting as HomeBuilders groups after you leave. Bring more HomeBuilders study guides the next time you go.
As a donor: You can give to help FamilyLife strengthen marriages in countries around the world. Your financial gifts can help translate and print HomeBuilders Couples Series and other family resources.
- How does FamilyLife operate in countries around the world?
Each FamilyLife ministry operates directly under the authority of the National Campus Crusade for Christ office in that country. We seek their blessing and approval for projects such as translations and events. FamilyLife USA serves as a resource and advisor for ministry development.
We encourage flexibility in the method of delivery and cultural adaptation of materials. However, to maintain the integrity of FamilyLife and ensure adherence to the basic biblical principles for families, all uses, translations, and printing must be consistent with the content of The Family Manifesto and the basic FamilyLife Marriage Seminar/Conference contents. For more information on translations, see question number four below.
- Does FamilyLife have any evangelistic outreach strategies to the non-churched?
Indeed we do! In targeted countries, FamilyLife International is field-testing several components of broader outreach-oriented strategies. The components are:
Evangelistic one day marriage/parenting seminar
Evangelistic HomeBuilders
Evangelistic mini-book (Keys to a Successful Marriage)
Before You Leap Single’s Seminar
The use of these tools is currently limited to ministries in countries where there is already a well-developed FamilyLife ministry, including full-time national staff. If you are interested in conducting a field test, contact the FamilyLife Global Outreach Team at global@familylife.com.
- How do I begin the process to translate a FamilyLife-authored resource?
If you would like to translate a resource, please e-mail our FamilyLife Global Outreach team global@familylife.com We work through the Campus Crusade for Christ National Directors and Area of Affairs Directors to ensure clear communication and teamwork. As soon as the proper approval is obtained, we will prepare a license agreement for your translation request. After your translation is completed, please send our Global Outreach Team six copies of your completed work.
- I would like to join FamilyLife as a staff member in the United States. How do I apply?
See the FamilyLife Home page on our website and select Staff Opportunities at the bottom of the page. If you are not an American citizen, please contact us for more information global@familylife.com.
- Does FamilyLife do anything for military personnel?
Yes, we have a FamilyLife Military Marriage Seminar that has the same basic content as the FamilyLife Weekend to Remember Seminar/Conference. The only difference is the Military Marriage Seminar is shorter and is presented on military installations rather than at hotels. FamilyLife Weekend to Remember Military Marriage Seminars are held at military installations across the US and overseas. There is a military rate for all military branches including National Guard and Reserves for military couples who would like to attend a FamilyLife Weekend to Remember in the U.S.
- Who should I contact to schedule a FamilyLife Military Marriage Seminar?
For United States bases in the U. S., email Keith Morgan (family.ministries@milmin.org) who is the Family Ministries Director for the Military Ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ located in Norfolk, Virginia, USA. For U. S. bases outside the United States and FamilyLife opportunities with foreign military organizations, email Paul Pettijohn (paul.pettijohn@milmin.org).
- I am a foreign national living in the United States and have a desire to help FamilyLife grow in my home country. How do I get started?
On our website click Where We Are, you will find contact information for some of the countries. Contact the FamilyLife National office in your country and ask about the needs and how you can be involved. If there is not a contact for your country, then contact the FamilyLife Global Outreach Team at global@familylife.com.
- Where can I purchase a FamilyLife resource in my language while I am living in the U. S.?
We do not keep inventory of resources in other languages in the U.S. FamilyLife Global Outreach office. For other languages contact the Campus Crusade National Director’s office of that country. Look under Where We Are on the FamilyLife website for contact information for other countries. Use the Search box and Select Languages to view a list of resources by language.
- I am a foreign national and I live in the U.S., can FamilyLife resources be translated for use in my country?
Yes! Many FamilyLife resources have been translated into different languages. It is so exciting to see how God is using FamilyLife to reach families of all cultures. Use the Search box for Select Languages to see the list of languages and what products are translated. If your language or the product that you are interested in is not listed, contact us global@familylife.com and let us know what your interest is.
- I would like to join Campus Crusade for Christ as a FamilyLife staff member in a particular country. How do I apply?
You must apply through the CCC National Director of that country. If you do not have that contact information contact the FamilyLife Global Outreach team at: global@familylife.com
- We are presenting FamilyLife events and have started HomeBuilders groups in my country. Should I send in my conference attendance and salvation decision statistics to the FamilyLife Global Outreach team?
Yes, we desire that all FamilyLife attendance and HomeBuilders information be sent so that we may pray for the events. We would like to know the results of those conferences to praise God and report to others the outcome of their prayers. Some of these statistics are published in the Partner Newsletter to encourage other countries that others are laboring on reaching the world for Christ. Send statistics and contact information to: global@familylife.com.
- How do I start a FamilyLife Movement in my country?
Because countries are unique, they do not develop in identical ways. Movements begin in five steps.
Step 1— A couple is exposed to FamilyLife by attending a FamilyLife marriage conference or they get involved in a HomeBuilders Couples Series study. As a result, they feel called to help strengthen marriages in their own country. Or, sometimes missionaries, pastors or lay leaders in a church hear about FamilyLife and desire to use FamilyLife resources to strengthen marriages in their sphere of influence.
Step 2—The couple contacts the Campus Crusade for Christ for Christ National Director in their country. With the National Director’s approval, FamilyLife Global Outreach team begins to communicate with the couple to help them launch a FamilyLife ministry.
- We are in Christian ministry. Can FamilyLife donate to my family needs for education of our children or other personal needs?
We appreciate your desire to serve Christ in your country. FamilyLife does not have the financial capacity to help you in this way. Our funds go directly to our ministries around the world to help them build ministry to families rather than supporting individuals.
- I am living in another country, where can I purchase a FamilyLife resource in my language?
We do not keep inventory of resources in other languages in the U.S. Familylife Global Outreach office. To view a list of resources in Latin American Spanish go to www.vidaenfamilia.org For other languages contact the National Director’s office of your country. Look under Where We Are on the FamilyLife website for contact information for other countries. Use the Search box and chose Select Languages to view a list of resources by language from the drop down menu.
- Can I adapt a resource for my culture when I translate it?
When translating FamilyLife materials, please honor our translation policy below:
When FamilyLife licenses a partner to “adapt” FamilyLife-authored materials (conference manuals and HomeBuilders Couples Series), it is for cultural adaptation purposes only and not for revision purposes. In order to ensure the integrity of FamilyLife contracts, agreements and materials, partners are not free to develop their own versions of materials without the International Office’s review and approval prior to printing. Likewise, materials authored by Dennis Rainey or other FamilyLife staff may have separate contracts with publishers that must be honored both in distribution and publishing rights.
- Can you send me any files to get me started translating The HomeBuilders Couples Series?
A FamilyLife partner is a designated leader of FamilyLife in a particular country. There is only one such partner in each country and that is the person we work with for translating purposes. If you are not a FamilyLife partner, please contact the National Director’s office. If you are a partner, write us at global@familylife.com and ask the Global Outreach Office about downloads containing the text and graphics for these materials. We are happy to provide these to our ministry partners for translation purposes. (They cannot be duplicated or printed without a license agreement.) If no affordable printed materials are available in your country, we may give permission for duplication of small quantities for non-sale purposes.
- What credit does FamilyLife require when a FamilyLife-authored resource is translated?
All FamilyLife publications (licensed manuals, etc.) must have the FamilyLife copyright and publication restriction requirements on the back of the title page or on a sheet following the title page. Please be sure that your current FamilyLife publications state the following information: FamilyLife, a division of Campus Crusade for Christ; the copyright notice of the original edition of the translated resource; and the original title and author in English. However, in sensitive countries, we will need to work together to find acceptable wording to protect our ministries.
- Do I need to get permission from FamilyLife Global Outreach office before I develop materials geared towards non-Christians?
Yes! Thanks for asking. If you want to use FamilyLife outlines or resources, you will need our permission before they are printed. Feel free to develop materials geared towards non-Christians and a secular audience, but remember to keep us informed. We will evaluate what permissions are needed, and we want to pass your ideas on to other partners.
- What is the FamilyLife Global Outreach speaker policy?
The Campus Crusade for Christ National Director in each individual country decides who is qualified to speak at FamilyLife events in his country. We encourage the recruitment and training of qualified national speakers in each country.
