Freedom From Smoking Facilitator Training

FREEDOM FROM SMOKING
....Uses behavior modification and group support to help people quit smoking
....Offers a step by step action plan for becoming a non-smoker
....Utilizes trained facilitators who are responsible for introducing techniques, initiating activities, facilitating group interactions and helping participants help themselves.

Facilitator Training Workshop
The purpose of FREEDOM FROM SMOKING (FFS) facilitator training is to guide participants through the steps of preparing for and conducting FFS clinics.  The two-day training meets from 1:00 am to 5:00 pm on Day 1 and 8:30 am to 3:30 pm on Day 2.  This learning opportunity utilizes lecture, networking and group activities to prepare participants to provide clinics in the workplace or community. Workshop fee is $150 per person.  Deadline for registration is 2 weeks prior.  Space is limited.  Registrations will not be confirmed without payment.

Objectives
At the completion of the workshop, each participant will be able to:
1. Identify characteristics of effective group leadership.
2. Illustrate three levels of communication skills.
3. Facilitate each FFS module.
4. Implement a variety of problem solving techniques.

Content
During the training, participants will explore the concepts, philosophy, materials and techniques that are used in the 7 session FFS Clinic.  Participants view audiovisual materials and practice the dynamic skills that are necessary to effectively facilitate a program.  Each participant is required to demonstrate facilitation of a clinic concept during the Walkthrough.  Each will receive a copy of the FFS Guide for Clinic Leaders and an FFS Clinic participant packet.  (Each person enrolled in the FFS Cessation Clinic receives a participant packet.  Packets are available from ALA-I at a cost of $25.00 per packet)
