American Lung Association meets BBB Wise Giving Alliance Standards

Freedom From Smoking

You too can have Freedom From Smoking!

What is Freedom From Smoking®?
The American Lung Association’s premiere smoking cessation program is Freedom From Smoking® (FFS). FFS is a highly structured and comprehensive behavior modification approach to smoking cessation in a group support setting. FFS is based on the premise that smoking is a learned behavior. The seven session format provides for tracking personal habits, developing coping strategies and practice in a supportive environment with others who are experiencing the same feelings and challenges.

FFS cessation clinics are sponsored by various hospitals, clinics and agencies across Indiana. For a location near you, see the Freedom From Smoking Clinics Near You section below.

FFS Facilitator Certification
The American Lung Association requires facilitators of Freedom From Smoking® programs be certified by attending a facilitator training workshop led by an ALA certified master trainer. In order to ensure quality control in conducting the FFS clinic, all workshop participants sign a Statement of Professional Standards agreeing to adhere to the content and format of the program. The two day workshops are held quarterly in the ALA-I office in Indianapolis.

Corporate FFS Clinics
The ALA of Indiana offers the 7 session FFS clinic on site to corporations in the Indianapolis metropolitan area.
