Asthma

Asthma is the number one chronic disease among children

"Coughing, wheezing, gasping, drowning, struggling for every breath..."

Asthma is a chronic lung disease that inflames the airways, narrows them and makes each breath progressively more difficult. It is a lung disease that can be deadly for both children and adults. Treatments can help, but we need a cure.

Asthma's Impact

  • It is the #1 chronic disease
  • It is the leading cause of hospitalization and missed school days
  • It has increased by 72% nationally in the last 12 years
  • One in five households has a child with asthma
  • It is more prevalent among African American children
