Four Essentials To Experiencing The Peace Of God

Recognize that in order for you to know the peace of God, you must depend on Him. This means you must be willing to let go of your control, whether it is in a specific situation or your life as a whole. (Psalm 55:22; 68:19)

Pray. Prayer is an essential part of experiencing God's peace. David talked to God. He told the Lord when he was joyful and when he was fearful. God knows when you struggle with temptation. Crying out to Him in prayer creates an atmosphere of humility in your heart. It teaches you to trust His guidance and acknowledge you are aware that you cannot face the situation on your own. Prayer opens our hearts to the mind of God. We learn to communicate with Him, and before you know it, you will hear the inner voice of God speaking to you and guiding you.

Let your faith be simple and pure. Trust God always. Don't complicate or confuse the subject of faith. Jesus instructs us to trust Him with the faith of a child. Stretch your hand out to God and let Him hold it.

Focus on God. Make a habit of beginning each day in prayer with the Lord. Think about Him and, even if your day is rushed, whisper to Him often: "Help me to keep the eyes of my heart on You, Lord." If you will do this, you will not be shaken by the storms of life. Instead you will know the encouragement of Jesus: "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful" (John 14:27).
