The Holy Family Resting - The Flight to Egypt

At the east entrance to the Crypt level stands the bronze sculpture: The Holy Family Resting - The Flight to Egypt. Created and donated by Anna Hyatt Huntington, the sculpture portrays the Blessed Virgin Mary as the image of strength and motherly protection in the face of difficulty. It also represents the first Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph struggling, against great obstacles, to foster family life and preserve their faith in a loving and merciful God.

Opposite the statue is a stained-glass window by Art DeCarlo that depicts the Assumption of Mary body and soul into heaven at the end of her earthly life.

The oratory is the gift of Albert J. and Jeanne Degnan Forte.
