Dr Eliza Chakravarty s a rheumatologist and epidemiologist who came to OMRF in 2011 from Stanford University. She received her doctorate from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed Rheumatology fellowship at Stanford before joining the faculty there.

She has a longstanding clinical and research interest in the interrelationships between autoimmune diseases and pregnancy as well as appropriate medication use during pregnancy to maximize outcomes for both the mother and infant. She has an active research program and clinical practice involving pregnant women with autoimmune diseases.
More recently, she was struck by the incidence of herpes zoster among young lupus patients and is currently working to better understand risk factors for zoster among individuals with autoimmune diseases and immunosuppressive medications, as well as the safety and efficacy of vaccination against herpes zoster in these populations
