MyStart! San Diego Wellness Challenge presented by ROEL

Take the challenge to walk toward a healthier YOU!

September 1 - September 18, 2009

The Start! Movement:
The American Heart Association's Start! movement calls on all Americans and their employers to create a culture of physical activity and health through walking. 

There are countless physical activities out there, but walking has the lowest dropout rate of them all! It's the simplest positive change you can make to effectively improve your heart health.

The Wellness Challenge:
Your challenge is to start walking and track your activity daily or weekly using the MyStart! free online tracking tool from September 1 through September 18. The MyStart! online tool converts your activity into steps or miles. At the end of the challenge, total your activity and submit your number to Elizabeth.MacPhail@heart.org.

Prizes:
The top three (3) challenge winners with the most activity will receive great Start! merchandise and recognition as a challenge winner at the 2009 Start! San Diego Heart Walk!

How to get started:

  • Go to www.mystartonline.org
  • Click Register to create your profile, then Submit
  • On the MyStart Tracker page, click Activity Diary to track your daily or weekly activity
  • Report your Steps tracked by Friday, September 18 by submitting your name, phone number, email address and total steps via email to Elizabeth.Macphail@heart.org. Type MyStart! San Diego Wellness Challenge presented by ROEL in the subject line of your email.
  • Winners will be announced at the 2009 Start! San Diego Heart Walk on Saturday, September 19, 2009.  Winners will also be notified via email or phone.

Not sure how to start walking? MyStart! online has several walking plans for you to choose from. From Beginner, to Advanced and even for busy people, MyStart! Walking Plans will help you get on your way to active health. Just visit the Web site, www.mystartonline.org and complete the short quiz on the MyStart! Tracker page to find out which plan is right for you.

  • Make it a fun social experience by walking with a friend!
  • Write inspiring quotes and post them in your office and at home to keep you motivated!
  • Listen to music that makes you want to get up and go!
