Hey Dude,

August is here, and usually that starts the countdown to school. But there is still plenty of time to enjoy the rest of your summer! One event you might want to check out is the Vans Warped Tour. This year marks the 15th anniversary of this traveling show, where as many as 100 bands play on separate stages at each venue. This year's tour features bands such as 3OH!3, Runner Runner, The White Tie Affair, and many others. Also, in honor of the tour's 15th year, on September 17th select theaters across the country will be showing a two-hour compilation of the best shows from the 15th Anniversary Celebration. Check their website to buy tickets to go see the tour live or find participating theaters for the 17th.

A Peer's Perspective on dealing with Peer Pressure

Q: How do you not let peer pressure to drink and do drugs influence you?

"Facing peer pressure to drink and do drugs is definitely the hardest thing I have gone through in school. Everyone wants to be cool and accepted, and I'm no exception. But I know that nothing is worth the consequences of doing drugs and drinking or the consequences of the decisions that I make while under the influence. I tell myself that I have the potential to achieve all of my goals; why should I throw that away just to be considered "cool"? It's especially hard when I feel like I'm the only one not partaking, but I know that I'm not the only one who doesn't want to risk throwing away their dreams just to have fun. The people that pressure me to do drugs don't have my best interests in mind, and I have to be confident enough in myself to know that I am making the right decision for me." - Anonymous Student Journalist

X Games Recap: Following NH Stars

Many Natural High stars appeared in X Games 15 this year. Paul Rodriguez, a professional skateboarder who will appear in Natural High 4, took the gold medal in the Skateboard Street category. In the skateboard street competition, each contestant had ten attempts to skate "street" obstacles such as stairs and rails, and tried to score big by adding tricks. The top three runs were added towards their total score. Travis Pastrana, who was featured in Natural High 2, won 4th place in Moto X Best Trick, and 2nd in Rally Car Racing Super Special. Another Natural High 2 star, Ricky Carmichael, won the bronze medal in Moto X Best Whip. In Best Whip, riders whip their bikes either sideways or upside down and the winner is decided by a vote from viewers. Ricky also tied for gold in Moto X Step Up, which is like a high jump on a bike, when he and the co-winner cleared 34 feet.
