Distance Challange and the Austin Marathon Relay

The Silicon Laboratories Austin Marathon Relay is honored and pleased to serve as Race Number One of the Distance Challenge this year.  We look forward to welcoming you to the Challenge on September 27 with special VIP treatment just for DC runners at the Relay. 

In addition, Junior Achievement will be offering DC runners a chance to have their DC entry fees paid as part of an exclusive incentive plan for runners who choose to raise funds for JA.  Get ready to meet the Challenge!

Four FAQ's on Distance Challenge and the Relay

How does the Relay work for Distance Challenge Runners?

• Relay is the first race of the Distance Challenge, required for DC, but it is not timed
• DC runners are encouraged to form teams  (a DC on line forum will help with matching)
• If preferred, DC runners can elect to be assigned at random to a DC team

How does the Relay work in general? 

• The Silicon Labs Austin Marathon Relay is a fund raising event of Junior Achievement
  26.2 miles, 5 relay legs including 12K, 10K, 10K, 5K, 5K (ran in that order)
• Common Course legs are roughly up and down Congress, out and back Caesar Chavez
• Entry fee is $150 per team, regardless of number of team members 
• Beer garden, music, food (lots of it)

What is being provided special for Distance Challenge Runners?

• Special DC runner tent, separate food and water
• Priority line for packet pickup and Special shirt or bib DC identification as DC runner
• Web forum to match up runners, or assignment service if preferred
• Free team photo opportunity in beer garden

How can DC Runners raise money for Junior Achievement and get their DC entry fees paid?

• JA has a custom on-line fund raising system for all runners.
• Fund raising is optional, at the discretion of the individual runner.
• DC Relay runners who raise a minimum of $750 will be eligible to have the balance of their DC race entry forms paid.
