Hey Dude,
Check out the funky and fun "Natural High" songs created and sent to us by a few of our biggest fans. Thank you to everyone who sends us their natural highs!
We have also added a new section to Natural High News called, "A Peer's Perspective". This section is written from a student attending a typical high school in Southern California. Her Natural Highs are soccer, writing, and journalism so this a great opportunity for her to put her skills and passions towards good use! We will be asking this "peer" to share her perspective on substance abuse, natural highs and the media every month so stay tuned to hear what her and her buddies have to say. The student has wished to remain anonymous however if you have a question you would like to ask her please send us an email at info@naturalhigh.org.
Best Wishes,

A Worthwhile Career Option for the Future
Maybe you've never thought about the future past high school, but the information in this latest finding is at least worth your time, especially if you have no idea what you want to do in the future. According to a recent survey of high school students, the desire to have a career in the trades or skilled labor is bottom of the list. Examples of careers in the trades or skilled labor include painting, plumbing, electricians, and many more.
Now there are two ways to look at this valuable slice of info. The first perspective is: wow, skilled labor is really unpopular, why would I want to do something like that? The other perspective is to see this as an opportunity to learn something that could be very valuable. If you haven?t been taught the laws of supply and demand yet, you will be soon, and you can see how when there is a limited amount of something (such as skilled laborers), demand for the product (or service) goes up, which ultimately means you can make more money. Wyatt Kilmartin, the Director of RIDGID branding says, "Young people need to know that historically there is a high demand and great future potential. including the opportunity to own and operate your own business. that comes with a career in the skilled trades." Peer Perspective
We asked Megan, what is the perception that students at your school do or do not use drugs? Is it considered a "cool" thing at your school? Do you ever feel it?s a social risk to say no and live for natural highs? If yes, how do you handle it?
?I think that most kids at my school know that drugs are at the school, but don't realize how many people use them. The "party people" are the ones that drink alcohol and do drugs, and some people think that it?s cool. But the people that I respect don't see them as "cool". The people that I respect don't do drugs. The people that I respect know that it's stupid to put yourself in danger just so you can have fun for a couple hours. Yes, sometimes it does feel like it's a social risk to say no and live for natural highs. Peer pressure to drink and do drugs will always exist. You have to realize that the people that don't think you're "cool" because you don't do drugs don't have your best interests in mind. Surround yourself with people that like you for who you are, not for what you do."
