Dear Supporter,
Support for the Sundt Memorial Foundation was at a peak Last Saturday night as friends and donors from across the country came together to celebrate our 2008 Annual Fundraising Gala, Caribbean Jam! Many goals were met that night including the most funds raised in SMF history, a whopping $200,000 for the Natural High DVD Series, as well as a 50% increase in attendance (the event sold out its 300 tickets) and media coverage from every medium. Click here to watch a recap that appeared on CW Channel 6 and view pictures from the night.
A big "Thank You" to everyone who attended and made the night possible. More details from the event below!

A Night to Remember - Caribbean Jam
The 2008 fundraising gala, Caribbean Jam, was the most successful event to date! Over 300 guests enjoyed a truly tranquil experience as the sun set behind the Birch Aquarium. With the island sounds of the steel drum band, guests strolled around the courtyard to discover which items to bid on during the silent auction. This year?s seated dinner was a first for SMF and turned out to be a great success. While enjoying the cuisine, guests bid on a number of items during the live auction, ranging from travel packages to yellow lab puppies. Founder, Jon Sundt, was sure to keep the evening?s true cause in mind, with a powerfully touching speech. All in all, the evening was a great success and brought in a record $200,000! Read more here.
Sponsors and Honorary Committee Members Made the Difference!
Caribbean Jam would have never happened if it wasn't for the support of many generous sponsors and individuals coming together to contribute what they can! Many thanks to the Morgan Le Fay Dreams Foundation, Anonymous Donor, Valhalla Capital Advisers, R.B. Woolley, Froley Revy Investments, the Michael and Karen Stone Family Foundation, Wright Family Foundation, Abraham Trading Co., Torrey Pines Capital Management, LP, The Little Family Foundation Inc., Robert and Mary Pat Amedeo, Little Buddy Ranch, Charles D. and Twyla R. Martin Foundation, San Miguel Associates, Do Right Foundation, Everest Capital Inc., Reel Picture, Mr. Handyman of California, Inc. Opportunities in Options L.P., A.V. Arias & Co., Royston Investments, Mari Kooi, Northfield Trading Company, Clarke Capital Management Inc., Marrokal Construction Company, Mark Fackler, Jim Godes, Mike Ryan & Penny Robbins-Ryan, Benchmark Complete Insurance Services, The Naked Foundation, Wells Fargo, Benchmark Financial Group Services, Rebate2U Realty Inc., HR Results and Laura Pyle.
We would also like to thank those who sat on our first ever Honorary Committee. We attribute our sky rocketing attendance to those people who bought tables and encouraged their friends to share in a fun night and great cause.
Natural High Honorees Shine on Stage
At the gala, Sundt Memorial Foundation was able to present Elisa Lizarraga and Switchfoot with awards for their dedication to the Natural High lifestyle. The student award winner, Elisa, accepted the award with a sentimental speech. With tear-filled eyes she thanked her mom for setting a good example and raising her well. Also accepting awards that evening were the band members for Switchfoot. They attended the Jam with their wives in tow. Even as honorees, they refused to take a back seat, and continued to show their generosity by signing a guitar that was auctioned off and even contributing to Sponsor-a- State! Both Elisa, and Switchfoot made it known to everyone they were truly worthy of their awards.
Big Thank You to Our Volunteers and Auction Donors!
SMF would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to all of those people who made the night possible, namely our volunteers and the businesses and individuals that donated items, services, and merchandise to our auction. The donations we acquired made both the Silent and Live Auction a huge success. The money raised will allow us to continue helping keep kids of drugs. All in all, the night went off without a hitch thanks to a wonderful group of volunteers running all the stations. Thanks for all of your hard work and support to make the Caribbean Jam a night worth remembering.
