Taking place only four days before the Presidential election, this event is sure to sell out. AP Style

You may have noticed recently that your club's e-newsletters and print invitations look a little different. The Office of Engagement has formally adopted the AP style as its style, in order to be consistent with the newspapers and magazines you read every day, and also to match the Office of Public Affairs' standard style.
That means that "am" and "pm" are now written as "a.m." and "p.m." Likewise, serial commas (comma before "and") have gone the way of the wind. As an added note, please remember to include parents when mentioning alumni in your event descriptions. UVaClubs are for everyone with an affinity for the University and we want them to know that they are welcome.

A&S Magazine

The University of Virginia College of Arts & Sciences Magazine is changing its design and format and it needs YOU to bring fresh content and images to its pages. Starting with the November issue, the magazine, which can be viewed online at http://magazine.clas.virginia.edu, will feature for and about CLAS alumni:

? an on- and off-Grounds calendar,
? CLAS notes (not promotions, births or weddings, but rather quirky achievements or unusual awards),
? a "Where's the Party?" section highlighting your club's recent party with a photo and caption and
? lists of books, blogs, restaurants, or whatever people are doing, including descriptions and links.

In the print magazine version of Arts & Sciences one new feature will be "'Hoos in the News." For "'Hoos in the News," we?re looking for alumni to share articles about CLAS alumni doing interesting things in their communities. Also included will be a "Then and Now" section, which will enable readers to track important cultural and structural changes at the University (not to mention the embarrassing hairstyles of the past). Please submit your words and photos to the magazine through Assistant Director of Regional Engagement, Timothy Roscoe at troscoe@virginia.edu.
