YWCA York is offering six full scholarships to age-appropriate girls across York County so they may participate in the “Girls On The Run” program.
This scholarship fund, titled the Sammie Fund after Samantha (the daughter of the generous funders of this scholarship), is meant to provide an opportunity for ALL York County girls to participate in this life-changing character development program through YWCA York.
The girls who are awarded scholarships will be empowered with lifelong tools through which they can live self-confident, healthy lives and learn to unleash their limitless potential -- qualities that Sammie's parents seek to instill within their daughter as she grows.
Who Is Eligible?
York County Girls in grades 3 - 8 who were NOT a recipient of this scholarship in the season immediately prior.

Message from Sammie's Parents
Sammie is almost 3 years old. She is a vibrant and fun little girl who is eager to take on life. She's smart and silly and energetic, and she already loves to run, her arms swinging back and forth erratically while she tries to imitate older girls she sees running. Because GOTR helps instill values in young girls similar to those we want to instill in Sammie as she grows up, we have developed this scholarship fund in her name to give York County girls of all eligible ages, backgrounds, and interests the opportunity to be a part of GOTR and grow in their confidence, face their fears, develop a healthy lifestyle, and make new friendships.
So take a leap of faith, tell us what it means to you to be a Girl on the Run, and run for Sammie this season with GOTR!
