VIKINGS' SCHOLARSHIP

GOAL

Fund a $25,000 Vikings Scholarship through the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation to assist the deserving child of a Marine with his or her college education.

FUNDING

Currently, over $21,815 has been committed by VMA(AW)-225 squadron personnel and others in the A-6 community. We encourage you to participate, and ask everyone who has previously given to consider an additional donation. We would like to finish this campaign with 100% participation.  Thanks to all past and current donors.

FOUNDATION

As background, since its founding in 1962, the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation has provided 23,964 scholarships and bonds, with 1,405 scholarships awarded in 2009, ranging in value from $1,000 to $12,500. In addition, the Foundation provides an automatic $30,000 scholarship over four years to every child of a Marine or of a Navy Corpsmen killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. Through June 30, 2009, 423 children are eligible. The average family income of the 2008 recipients is $43,379. Obviously, these children of our Marines surely need and deserve our support and investment.
