Be invigorated as never before! Take the Polar Plunge into the Pacific at the Oceanside Pier to benefit Special Olympics Southern California - San Diego County athletes.
On February 18, brave men, women and children will take "the Plunge" to raise money, win rewards and have a good time!The Polar Plunge is an event where all participants race into and enjoy the frigid waters of the Pacific. Plungers set their own personal goals of how deep to go and how long they want to stay in the water (within the limits established by the lifeguards). Some Plungers only get their ankles wet while others stay in until the lifeguards make them leave the water.
Too Chicken to Plunge
If you prefer to keep your feet on dry land rather than jumping into freezing water, you can still be a part of all the fun. Fundraise a minimum of $50, and you can attend the event as a "Too Chicken to Plunge" participant. You will join all the other "chickens" in the coop while you cheer on the plungers and stay warm in your commemorative T-shirt. Register today and be sure to select the Registration Type, "Too Chicken to Plunge."
Going underwater is completely discouraged since it makes it harder for the lifeguards to determine individuals in distress.
This is the 6th Annual Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Southern California - San Diego County, and we hope to raise $20,000.
All proceeds will benefit the athletes of San Diego County. By taking the Plunge, you will be helping Special Olympics Southern California reach out and provide year-round training and sports programs for children and adults with intellectual disabilities in San Diego County.
