Join Rocking the Boat and the Village Community Boathouse on Saturday, September 25th for the adventure of a lifetime: a day-long 28.5 mile row around the entire island of Manhattan!
Leading up to the big row, participants will raise $1,000 each to support Rocking the Boat's innovative youth development programs in wooden boatbuilding, maritime training, and environmental restoration.
Ten teams will circumnavigate the island in 26½-foot hand-built wooden rowing boats accompanied by Rocking the Boat students and experienced Village Community Boathouse members who will serve as coxswains and alternate rowers; and at least one powerboat carrying a support team to ensure a safe voyage.
The row will start and end at Pier 40 at West Houston Street and the Hudson River. Following the row, participants will be treated to a well-deserved party featuring a gourmet picnic on the pier, an auction, and an awards ceremony honoring the top fundraisers. Donors of $250 or more are invited to join the after-row fun!
